Northland is a specialty shop in Port McNeill, North Vancouver Island, Dealing exclusively in tackle manufactured by Hardy / Greys of Alnwick England. With a huge emphasis on Spey casting and new evolving technique of tackle and fly. We are located in the heart of some of the best British Columbian wild Salmon / Steelhead fishing.

With river systems containing residential Rainbows, Cutthroat trout, and all species of wild pacific Salmon. Our fishing commences in March and continues thru until October.

In today’s fast paced world one of the only places to find peace is on the river bank, looking out over a clear cold stream with a fly riding high on the water . This makes all life’s problems seem trivial. Fly fishing is not only a sport, it is a way of life and understanding , from the artistic rhythm of a soft cast to the conservation of catch and release . It’s all about quality of life …Release the Angler in all of us.

Being able to retrace the steps of such people as Roderick Haig-Brown on rivers like the Nimpkish and also the Kilpala brings thoughts to mind of history and conservation.

Northland’s owners were born and raised on Vancouver Island.

Leanne and Perry both grew up understanding the local Rivers, wild Salmon, Steelhead, trout and Dolly Varden Char. There Family business was enhanced when Hardy’s Andy Murray began teaching them the art of Angling, specifically the spectacular casts of the Spey. Now that Spey casting has hit North America by storm, The Wilson’s are ahead of the crowd to offer there profession to both novice and experienced fly fisher alike. Very few companies have withstood the test of time like Hardy.

It is a name that is known with respect and pride among global Anglers.
