Fishing Report - 2007.05.03 - 09:08:48 AM

As the Coho proved to be hit or miss in most areas it was nice to get a late run of chums to end the fall salmon run and test some tackle. Anyone that hit the timing right with the rising rivers may have cashed in on some great summer run Steelhead fishing in a few of the local rivers. For now most of us are hitting the tying bench preparing for the early winter run steelhead that will be now entering a few choice rivers. Most patterns will consist of purple and black bunny strips or the long flow of a Rhea feather touched up with Amherst. As far as fly lines go a Skagit style line with sink tips or T-14 is a great option in the faster flows. Another great way to go when fishing behind the late salmon run is Flesh flys or egg patterns tied small with the option of picking up a few hungry trout. Special Thanks should also go out to all the people that participated in the Marble River Chinook brood stock capture, a job well done. Perry Wilson
